London flight choices proliferate

Americans planning a trip to London are being offered an even greater choice of flight options, as one airline has begun a new route and two other carriers have announced extra links.

Canadian carrier Zoom Airlines inaugurated a brand new daily link between New York JFK International and London Gatwick today (Thursday, June 21st), with tickets on sale from $199 each way.

A quarter of all seats on each of the Boeing 767s serving the route will sell for this rock-bottom price, while premium economy fares are $179 extra. Unlike its no-frills rivals, the Ottawa-based airline is all-inclusive, laying on complimentary meals and other extras.

To complement this new connection, two luxury carriers have also announced additional flight options, due to take off later in the year.

The first is transatlantic business class operator Eos Airlines, which will loft a total of 40 flights per week to the English capital from the Big Apple as of September 9th. New options include late-night connections and extra morning flights for added convenience.

According to Eos chief executive Jack Williams the airline is now the market leader in terms of “guest satisfaction, on-time performance and in delivering the benefits of an ‘uncrowded’ experience”.

Each of its Boeing 757 jets is fitted with just 48 seats, meaning that each passenger has 21 feet of personal space.

Eos’ transatlantic rival MAXjet is also lining up additional flights to London, with a new seasonal Saturday service - again from New York - flying from September through November.

Anyone planning a trip to London should be sure to invest in adequate travel insurance cover, which offers more than just protection against accidents. Fliers with the appropriate travel insurance can claim compensation for baggage mishandling or costly delays, for example.
