The Task Force on New Americans has unveiled four new initiatives to help immigrants assimilate into society after securing work in the USA.
The first is WelcometoUSA.gov, the federal government’s new official website for overseas workers, while the three remaining new projects will help arrivals learn English, “fully become American” and embrace American civic culture.
“Our plans include even more opportunities for American citizens and community groups to help newcomers integrate into American society,” said Emilio Gonzalez, US Citizen and Immigration Services director and Task Force executive secretary.
Promoting volunteerism is one of the avenues the Task Force will be pursuing in order to foster community cohesion. The so-called New Americans Project will encourage foreigners who have arrived to work in the USA to use a new volunteering search engine.
Distributing information to foreigners who arrive to work in the USA is at the heart of the new initiatives and the Task Force has loaded its new website with essential information for foreign workers.
An essential thing for new arrivals to remember when they secure a visa to work in the USA is that visitors insurance can be a life-line. Without it, overseas workers can find themselves out of pocket or stranded if things don’t go according to plan.
