The benefits for Trip Cancellation will not cover tickets obtained through frequent flyer or award points. However, should your trip end prematurely due to a “covered reason” of the plan, then the Trip Interruption benefit would reimburse the cost of the additional transportation to return you to your home. You may want to adjust your insurable trip cost to reflect a one-way ticket from your farthest destination back home. Please note that some travel insurance plans offer a higher Trip Interruption benefit limit automatically that may be appropriate.
