If a hurricane or another weather disaster hits, will my vacation be protected?

Possibly, although no policy covers every possible aspect for hurricane or weather related disasters. Most all travel insurance policies cover in the event everything is shut down and you are not able to reach your destination.  A few carriers have added benefits which may include cover in the event a hurricane warning is issued within 24 hours of departure after a 15 day wait; some policies have a benefit if your accommodation at your destination is rendered uninhabitable.  If you are within 15 days of your initial trip payment, you may want to consider purchasing a policy with a cancel for any reason benefit which allows you to cancel for “any reason” up to 2 days prior to departure and receive a reduced benefit.
