The Insurer will pay up to the amount in the schedule should you miss your cruise or tour departure as the result of the cancellation or delay of 3 or more hours of your regularly scheduled airline flights due to inclement weather. For this benefit, Covered Expenses means additional transportation expenses incurred to join the departed cruise or tour, reasonable additional accommodation and meal expenses incurred en route to catch up to the cruise or tour, and non-refundable cruise or tour payments for the unused portion of your land or water travel arrangements. This coverage is available if no other coverage is provided by a Common Carrier or another party at no cost to you or as covered elsewhere in this policy.

The Travel Delay benefit is reduced by any benefit paid by the airline carrier or cruise line towards any additional transportation costs.

The Insured Person must make every reasonable effort to avoid additional expenses.

This benefit is payable for only one delay per Covered Trip.
Travel Delay must be caused by:

• a) Travel Supplier delay;
• b) lost or stolen passport, travel documents or money;
• c) medical quarantine;
• d) natural disaster; or
• e) Injury or Illness of the Insured Person or a Travel Companion.

The Insured’s Travel Delay claim will be reduced by any amount that is credited or refunded to him or her by any other source.

COVERAGE I

MISSED CONNECTION

This Coverage I is made a part of the policy. It is subject to all the provisions of this Coverage I.

If You miss Your cruise or tour departure because the airline flight is delayed for 3 or more hours, due to:
a) any delay of a Common Carrier. The delay must be certified by the Common Carrier;
b) documented weather condition preventing the Insured from getting to the point of departure;
c) quarantine, hijacking, Strike, natural disaster, terrorism or riot;

Benefits will be paid, on a one-time basis, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount, for:
a) the Additional Transportation Cost to join the Covered Trip;
b) reasonable accommodations and meal expenses up to $150 per day necessarily incurred by an Insured for which You have proof of purchase and which were not paid for or provided by any other source.

In the event a Cruise/Tour Supplier makes a change in Your Trip itinerary which prevents You from participating in an event/activity pre-paid prior to departure and scheduled on Your Trip itinerary, nonrefundable pre-paid event/activity expenses will be payable up to the Maximum Benefit Amount.

Benefits will not be paid if the event/activity is rescheduled during the course of the Trip.

Verification by the Cruise/Tour Supplier of the change in the scheduled Trip itinerary will be necessary for claim payment

MISSED CONNECTION FOR CRUISES ONLY BENEFITS

This benefit may not be available to residents of all states; please consult your state specific Group Certificate/Individual Policy for full details.

We will reimburse you for Covered Expenses, up to the amount shown in the schedule, should you miss your cruise departure as the result of the cancellation or delay of 3 or more hours of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to inclement weather.

For this benefit, Covered Expenses means additional transportation expenses incurred to join the departed cruise, reasonable additional accommodation and meal expenses incurred en route to catch up to the cruise, and non-refundable cruise payments for the unused portion of the Insured’s land and water or air travel arrangements. This coverage is excess of any coverage provided by a Common Carrier or another party at no cost to the Insured.

3) documented adverse weather conditions prevent You from getting to the Point of Origin;
4) Organized Labor Strike, Natural Disaster, Terrorist Incident, riot or You or Your Traveling Companion being hijacked or quarantined; or
5) Your passports, travel documents or money are lost or stolen as documented by a police report. The Maximum Benefit Amount for Trip Delay will be reduced by any amounts paid or payable by any Common Carrier responsible for such trip delay.

We will reimburse You for the following expenses, charges or costs incurred as a result of a Missed Connection caused by any one of the unforeseen events listed below occurring on or after Your Scheduled Departure Date, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount for:

3) You or Your Traveling Companion being delayed by bad weather while en route to a departure provided You were scheduled to arrive at the point of departure at least 2 hours before the scheduled time of departure; or
4) Your regularly scheduled airline flight being canceled or delayed solely due to bad weather for at least 5 hours and for this reason You miss Your cruise. Coverage is secondary to any coverage provided by the Common Carrier. Benefits are payable under either Trip Delay or Missed Connection (not both) for any one incident resulting in a delay.
