Missed Connection

We will also pay for additional reasonable transportation costs to help the Insured Person join (catch up to) a covered cruise, up to the amount shown on the Certificate Schedule, if the delay is due to bad weather and causes the Insured Person to miss cruise departure because the airline flight was canceled or delayed for at least six (6) hours. The Travel Delay benefit is reduced by any benefit paid by the airline carrier or cruise line towards any additional transportation costs.

We will pay up to the Maximum Benefit shown on the Certificate Schedule for reasonable, additional accommodations and for traveling expenses, not otherwise paid by any Travel Supplier or Common Carrier, incurred by the Insured Person on a Covered Trip because of a travel delay of at least 24 hours. The Insured Person must make every reasonable effort to avoid additional expenses.
This benefit is payable for only one delay per Covered Trip.
Travel Delay must be caused by:
(a) Travel Supplier delay;

(b) lost or stolen passport, travel documents or money;

(c) medical quarantine;

(d) natural disaster; or

(e) Injury or Illness of the Insured Person or a Travel Companion.

The Insured?s Travel Delay claim will be reduced by any amount that is credited or refunded to him or her by any other source.

We will also pay for additional reasonable transportation costs to help the Insured Person join (catch up to) a covered cruise, up to the amount shown on the Certificate Schedule, if the delay is due to bad weather and causes the Insured Person to miss cruise departure because the airline flight was canceled or delayed for at least six (6) hours. The Travel Delay benefit is reduced by any benefit paid by the airline carrier or cruise line towards any additional transportation costs.

Trip Interruption Benefits: The Insurer will reimburse the Insured for this benefit up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits for Trips that have been interrupted or delayed due to the unforeseen circumstances listed at the beginning of this section. The Insurer will reimburse for the following:
(a) forfeited, non-refundable, unused prepaid payments made prior to the Insured?s Contracted Departure Date;
(b) the Insured?s additional cost as a result of a change in the per-person occupancy rate for prepaid travel arrangements if a Traveling Companion?s Trip is interrupted and the Insured?s Trip is continued;
(c) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured, either (i) to the Return Destination; or (ii) from the place that the Insured left the Trip to the place that the Insured may rejoin the Trip; or
(d) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured to reach the original Trip Destination if the Insured is delayed, and leaves after the Contracted Departure Date; or
(e) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured to join or rejoin the Trip if the Insured?s Common Carrier?s departure is delayed by a mechanical breakdown.

However, the benefit payable under (c) and (d), above will not exceed the cost of economy airfare (or first class if the Insured?s original tickets were first class) by the most direct route, less any refunds paid or payable.

MISSED CONNECTION

This benefit covers missed Cruise departures that result from cancellation or delay (for three (3) or more hours) of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to Inclement Weather or any Common Carrier caused delay. Maximum benefits of up to the amount shown in the Confirmation of Coverage are provided to cover additional transportation expenses needed for You to join the departed Cruise, reasonable accommodation and meal expenses and nonrefundable trip payments for the unused portion of Your Cruise. Coverage is secondary to any compensation provided by a Common Carrier. Coverage will not be provided to individuals who are able to meet their scheduled departure but cancel their Cruise due to Inclement Weather.

The Insurer will reimburse this benefit up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits if Inclement Weather or Common Carrier causes cancellation or a delay of all regularly scheduled airline flights for 3 to less than 5 hours to your point of departure. You can collect up to $250, or up to $500 if the insurance was purchased within 15 calendar days of initial Trip payment, for additional transportation costs to join the Trip (must be same class of original tickets purchased). Reasonable accommodations and meals (up to $150 per day), and/or the non-refundable, unused portion of the prepaid expenses as long as the expense is supported by a proof of purchase and is not reimbursable by another source. Common Carrier must certify the delay of the regularly scheduled airline flight.

MISSED CONNECTION
If while on a Trip the Insured misses a Trip departure resulting from cancellation or delay of 3 or more hours of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to Inclement Weather or Common Carrier caused delay, the Insurer will reimburse the Insured up to the Maximum Limit shown in the Schedule for:
1. additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured to join the departed Trip;
2. pre-paid, non-refundable trip payments for the unused portion of the Trip.
The Common Carrier must certify the delay of the regularly scheduled airline flight.

MISSED CONNECTIONS
The Insurer will reimburse this benefit up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits if Inclement Weather or Common Carrier causes cancellation or a delay of all regularly scheduled airline flights for three to less than five hours to your point of departure. You can collect up to $500, or up to $750 if the Umbrella Package is purchased, for additional transportation costs to join the Trip (must be same class of original tickets purchased). Reasonable accommodations and meals (up to $150 per day), and/or the non-refundable, unused portion of the prepaid expenses as long as the expense is supported by a proof of purchase and is not reimbursable by another source. Common Carrier must certify the delay of the regularly scheduled airline flight.

MISSED CONNECTION
If while on a Trip the Insured misses a Trip departure resulting from cancellation or delay of 3 or more hours of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to Inclement Weather or Common Carrier caused delay, the Insurer will reimburse the Insured up to the Maximum Limit shown in the Schedule for:
1. additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured to join the departed Trip;
2. pre-paid, non-refundable trip payments for the unused portion of the Trip.
The Common Carrier must certify the delay of the regularly scheduled airline flight.
Coverage is secondary if reimbursable by any other source.

The Insurer will reimburse this benefit up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits if Inclement Weather or Common Carrier causes cancellation or a delay of all regularly scheduled airline flights for 3 to less than 5 hours to your point of departure. These benefits will not duplicate any benefits payable under the policy or any coverage(s) attached to the policy.

You are covered up to the Maximum Benefit Amount for:

We will reimburse You, subject to the Maximum Benefit Amounts for Trip Delay, for the following expenses incurred as a result of a trip delay of 5 or more hours duration occurring on or after Your Scheduled Departure Date as a result of one of the unforeseen events listed below:
1) Additional Transportation Cost incurred by You while You are traveling to:
a) continue on Your Covered Trip; or
b) return to Your Point of Origin;
2) additional expenses incurred for an unplanned overnight stay resulting from such trip delay. Coverage includes expenses incurred for reasonable travel accommodations and meals. The overall limit for these additional expenses is $200 per day for Travel Plus;
3) unused, non refundable portion of the prepaid expenses as long as such expenses are supported by proof of purchase and are not reimbursable by any other source.

UNFORESEEN EVENTS As used in this provision, unforeseen events are as follows:
1) delay of the Common Carrier upon which You are traveling as certified by such Common Carrier;
2) You are involved in a traffic accident while enroute to the Point of Origin as documented by a police report;
3) documented adverse weather conditions prevent You from getting to the Point of Origin;
4) Organized Labor Strike, Natural Disaster, Terrorist Incident, riot or You or Your Traveling Companion being hijacked or quarantined; or
5) Your passports, travel documents or money are lost or stolen as documented by a police report. The Maximum Benefit Amount for Trip Delay will be reduced by any amounts paid or payable by any Common Carrier responsible for such trip delay.

MISSED CONNECTION
This benefit covers missed Cruise departures that result from cancellation or delay (for three or more hours) of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to Inclement Weather or any Common Carrier caused delay. Maximum benefits of up to the amount shown in the Confirmation of Coverage are provided to cover additional transportation expenses needed for You to join the departed Cruise, reasonable accommodation and meal expenses (up to the per day amount shown in the Confirmation of Coverage) and nonrefundable trip payments for the unused portion of Your Cruise. Trip Interruption Benefits: The Insurer will reimburse the Insured for this benefit up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule of Benefits for Trips that have been interrupted or delayed due to the unforeseen circumstances listed at the beginning of this section. The Insurer will reimburse for the following:
(a) forfeited, non-refundable, unused prepaid payments made prior to the Insured?s Contracted Departure Date;
(b) the Insured?s additional cost as a result of a change in the per-person occupancy rate for prepaid travel arrangements if a Traveling Companion?s Trip is interrupted and the Insured?s Trip is continued;

(e) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured to join or rejoin the Trip if the Insured?s Common Carrier?s departure is delayed by a mechanical breakdown.

However, the benefit payable under (c) and (d), above will not exceed the cost of economy airfare (or first class if the Insured?s original tickets were first class) by the most direct route, less any refunds paid or payable.

We will pay a Post-Departure Trip Interruption Benefit, up to the amount in the Schedule, if: 1) Your arrival on your Covered Trip is delayed beyond the Scheduled Departure Date; or 2) You are unable to continue on your Covered Trip after you have departed on your Covered Trip due to your, Family Member's or Traveling Companion's, Sickness, Injury, or death. For item 1) above, the Sickness or Injury must: a) Commence while your coverage is in effect under the plan; b) For item 2) above, commence while you are on your Covered Trip and your coverage is in effect under the plan; and c) For both items 1) and 2) above, require the examination and treatment by a Physician, in person, at the time the Covered Trip is interrupted or delayed; and d) In the written opinion of the treating Physician, be so disabling as to delay your arrival on your Covered Trip or to prevent you from continuing your Covered Trip.

We will pay a benefit if: 1) Your arrival on your Covered Trip is delayed beyond the Scheduled Departure Date; or 2) You are unable to continue on your Covered Trip after you have departed on your Covered Trip due to Other Covered Events, as defined.

Post-Departure Trip Interruption Benefits
We will reimburse you, less any refund paid or payable, for unused land or water travel arrangements, plus one of the following:

1. To the next scheduled destination where you can catch up to your Covered Trip; or
2. To the final destination of your Covered Trip; or

2. The additional transportation expenses incurred by you by the most direct route to reach your original Covered Trip destination if you are delayed and leave after the Scheduled Departure Date. However, the benefit payable under (1) and (2) above will not exceed the cost of a one-way economy air fare (or first class, if the original tickets were first class) by the most direct route less any refunds paid or payable for your unused original tickets.

3. Your additional cost as a result of a change in the per-person occupancy rate for prepaid travel arrangements if a Traveling Companion's Covered Trip is interrupted and your Covered Trip is continued.

Missed Connection: A maximum benefit of up to the amount on Your Confirmation of Benefits is provided to cover for Loss(es) You incur due to missed Cruise or Trip departures which result from cancellation or delay for six (6) or more hours of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to any delay of Your Common Carrier (including Inclement Weather). Maximum benefits of up to the amount shown on the Confirmation of Benefits are provided to cover additional transportation expenses needed for You to join the departed Cruise or Trip, reasonable accommodation and meal expenses and non-refundable trip payments for the unused portion of Your Cruise or Trip. Coverage is secondary to any compensation provided by a Common Carrier. Coverage will not be provided to individuals who are able to meet their scheduled departure but cancel their Cruise or Trip due to Inclement Weather.

In the event a Cruise/ Tour supplier makes a change in Your Trip itinerary which prevents You from participating in an event/activity pre-paid prior to departure and scheduled on Your Trip itinerary, nonrefundable pre-paid event/activity expenses will be payable up to the Maximum Benefit Amount. Benefits will not be paid if the event/activity is rescheduled during the course of the Trip.

Verification by the cruise/tour supplier of the change in the scheduled Trip itinerary will be necessary for claim payment.

MISSED CONNECTION

A maximum benefit of up to the amount on Your Confirmation of Benefits is provided to cover for Loss(es) You incur due to missed Cruise or Trip departures which result from cancellation or delay for three or more hours of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to any delay of Your Common Carrier. In the event a Cruise/Tour Supplier makes a change in Your Trip itinerary which prevents You from participating in an event/activity pre-paid prior to departure and scheduled on Your Trip itinerary, nonrefundable pre-paid event/activity expenses will be payable up to the Maximum Benefit Amount.

Benefits will not be paid if the event/activity is rescheduled during the course of the Trip.

Verification by the Cruise/Tour Supplier of the change in the scheduled Trip itinerary will be necessary for claim payment.
