The U.S. Department of State has issued a Europe Travel Alert, highlighting the risk of terrorist attacks throughout Europe.

The alert cautions U.S. citizens to exercise vigilance when traveling in Europe, especially during the popular summer season. The travel alert was issued on May 1, 2017, and expires on September 1, 2017.

This database is regularly updated with relevant new information, official provider position statements, and answers to frequently asked questions related to coverage for the Europe Travel Alert. Travel insurance position statements and FAQs included in this Information Center are subject to change at any time.

The U.S. Department of State previously issued a Europe Travel Alert on November 21, 2016. That alert, which expired on February 20, 2017, cautioned U.S. citizens to exercise vigilance when attending large holiday events and tourist sites and recommended travelers check the U.S. Embassy or consulate website for their destination.

The Europe Travel Alert does not affect the availability of coverage on standard travel insurance policies.

A travel alert is not a covered reason to cancel your trip unless you have the Cancel For Any Reason upgrade on your policy.
