The U.S. Department of State has issued a Europe Travel Alert, highlighting the risk of terrorist attacks throughout Europe during the holiday season.

The alert cautions U.S. citizens to exercise vigilance when attending large holiday events and tourist sites and recommends travelers check the U.S. Embassy or consulate website for their destination. The travel alert was issued on November 21, 2016, and expires on February 20, 2017.

The Europe Travel Alert does not affect the availability of coverage on standard travel insurance policies.

A travel alert is not a covered reason to cancel your trip unless you have the Cancel For Any Reason upgrade on your policy.
