The U.S. Department of State has issued a Europe Travel Alert, highlighting the risk of terrorist attacks throughout Europe.
The alert cautions U.S. citizens to exercise vigilance when traveling in Europe, especially during the popular summer season. The travel alert was issued on May 1, 2017, and expires on September 1, 2017.

The U.S. Department of State previously issued a Europe Travel Alert on November 21, 2016. That alert, which expired on February 20, 2017, cautioned U.S. citizens to exercise vigilance when attending large holiday events and tourist sites and recommended travelers check the U.S. Embassy or consulate website for their destination.
