Am I covered if I test positive and cannot return home to the US?

Last Updated:

If you are unable to travel home due to the CDC regulation because you contracted the coronavirus while overseas, you may be covered under your policy’s Trip Delay benefit, depending on your policy.

This benefit can cover the costs of meals and accommodations during the extension of your trip while you are quarantined. This coverage may be extended up to the maximum number of days listed by the policy or until you are cleared to return home, whichever takes place first.

In the event you are hospitalized, you may also be covered by your policy’s Emergency Medical benefit. This benefit can cover the cost incurred for treatment related to the coronavirus, including hospital charges and physician services.

This information may vary based on the travel insurance policy. If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact us directly at 800-240-0369. Our customer service representatives are available from 8am to 10pm ET, seven days a week, and are delighted to help! We are working to answer customer calls and emails as quickly as possible. We apologize for any delays and appreciate your patience.
