Can I still buy travel insurance after a tropical storm or hurricane is named?

While you can still buy a travel insurance policy after a storm is named, the policy will not include coverage for the storm.

Once a tropical storm or hurricane is named, it is considered a foreseen event, and is therefore no longer eligible for coverage on new policies. If you try to file a claim for a loss related to the storm, your claim will be denied if you purchased the policy after the storm was named.
