Yes, you can still buy a travel insurance policy for a trip to Egypt, but it will not include coverage for the Dec. 11 bombing at the cathedral in Cairo.
Only policies purchased before December 11, 2016, can include coverage for the terrorist attack in Cairo on that day. Travelers can still buy policies for future trips to Egypt, but no policy purchased after December 11 will allow the traveler to cancel their trip because of the Dec. 11 attack.
Many policies will still include coverage for future terrorist attacks. However, some policies do exclude Terrorism coverage for an attack if a previous terrorist attack occurred in the same destination within the past 30-90 days. This means, there are some policies that will not include coverage for any attacks that may occur in Cairo in the next few months.
