If my airline waives the fees to cancel or change my flight, can I cancel my policy for a refund?

Last Updated:

Many airlines are offering to change travelers’ flights without a fee to avoid risk of further spreading of the coronavirus.

If your airline waives the fees and you decide to change your travel dates, you can contact your travel insurance provider up until the day before you are originally scheduled leave for your trip to request they change the travel dates on your policy. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

If your airline allows you to cancel your flights outright and you decide not to take the trip you have insured, you may able to receive reimbursement for your premium or apply your coverage to a different trip. However, a refund of premium is only guaranteed during your policy’s Money Back Guarantee period.  This is a 10-14 day free look period immediately following the day you purchase the policy in which you may cancel your policy for a 100% refund.
