Many policies include Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage for Terrorism. Some policies also include Non-Medical Evacuation coverage if an attack occurs while they are traveling.
In the event there is a terrorist attack, some policies may provide coverage for losses related to terrorism.
The incident must be deemed “terrorism” by the US Department of State and must meet the policies specified requirements. Typical requirements to be eligible for coverage include:
- The incident must occur in or near a city listed on your itinerary
- The incident must occur within a specified time period of your arrival, usually 7-30 days
Some policies also require that there have been no recent terrorist incidents in the same city within a specified period of time.
Additionally, Non-Medical Evacuation can also provide coverage if there is an attack while you are traveling. The Non-Medical Evacuation benefit arranges transportation from a place of danger to a place of safety during a time of civil or political unrest.
