What coverage is available if there is a terrorist attack?

Last Updated:

Some Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption benefits include coverage for Terrorism.

In the event the Russian plane crash is deemed a terrorist attack and you purchased a policy before the date the event occurred, October 31st, some policies may provide coverage for losses related to terrorism.

Typical requirements to be eligible for coverage include:

  • The incident must occur in a city listed on your itinerary.
  • The incident must occur within a specified time period of your arrival, usually 30 days.
  • There have been no recent terrorist incidents in the same city within a specified period of time.
  • The incident must be deemed “terrorism” by the US Department of State and must meet the policies specified requirements

Non-Medical Evacuation can also provide coverage if there is an attack while you are traveling. The Non-Medical Evacuation benefit arranges transportation from a place of danger to a place of safety during a time of civil or political unrest.
