Travelers who purchased a travel insurance policy before the blizzard or winter storm was named may be able to receive reimbursement for lost trip expenses if their trip is impacted by the storm.

If your flight is delayed by at least 3-12 hours due to the winter storm, you may be covered for additional expenses during the delay, such as meals or accommodations. If the delay causes you to miss a connecting flight, you may also be able to file a claim for the transportation costs to catch up with your trip.

If the storm cancels or delays your flight for an extended period of time, typically at least 12-48 hours, you may be covered to cancel your trip and receive reimbursement for your unused, prepaid and nonrefundable trip expenses.

If the delay causes a traveler to miss a connecting flight, they may also be able to file a claim for the transportation costs to catch up with their trip.
