APRIL – France Church Attack Travel Insurance Coverage Position Statement

APRIL’s position statement as it relates to the church attack in Saint-Etienne-Du-Rouvray, Normandy, France.

Our normal guidelines still apply for the event to be covered as a terrorist attack under trip cancellation or interruption, that is:

  • Coverage may be afforded under policies purchased prior to the event.
  • As of then, this event is no longer considered unforeseen, so it will not be covered. This guideline applies only to new policies that are effective on or after the event, and covering travel during such time.
  • Terms and conditions may vary by program; please refer to the actual policy:

Trip Cancellation / Economy / VIP / Universal Annual / Elite Annual plans:

  • The terrorist attack must occur within 30 days of your departure and within 50 miles of a city listed on your itinerary.
  • Attack results in the complete cessation of travel services at the point of departure or destination for at least 48 consecutive hours.

Choice plan:

  • The terrorist attack must occur within 30 days of your departure and within 100 miles of a city listed on your itinerary.
  • Attack results in the complete cessation of travel services at the point of departure or destination for at least 48 consecutive hours.

Other benefits in addition to Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption may apply for coverage related to this tragic event.
