GeoBlue

At approximately 9:30 pm locally on June 3, 2017, three assailants wearing fake suicide belts plowed a rental van through a crowd of pedestrians on London Bridge before exiting the vehicle and proceeding to walk through the Borough Market section of London, indiscriminately stabbing restaurant and pub patrons. The marauding knife attacks were ended by London Metro police who responded to the incident within minutes, firing 50 rounds of gunfire and killing all three perpetrators and one innocent bystander. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attacks, which have so far claimed seven lives and injured dozens more; the majority of which remain hospitalized and in critical condition. Twelve arrests have been made by London Police, in the wake of Saturday’s events and residents and travelers alike are being urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. If traveling through the area, expect to see an increased police presence and frequent checkpoints over the next few days, as the threat level remains “severe.”

Our Travel Medical plans provide coverage for Injuries and Illnesses resulting from terrorism and pandemics as any other Injury or Illness.

GeoBlue has dedicated multilingual resources available 24/7 for members in London who are in need of medical care and assistance.
