Global Alert – Munich Shooting Travel Insurance Coverage Position Statement
On Friday, July 22nd, 2016, a gunman in Munich, German shot into crowds at a shopping center killing nine people and injuring at least 35 others. Global Alert extends our deepest sympathies to the victims of this attack and their loved ones. The U.S. Department of State has condemned this horrible attack, but has not labeled it as an act of terrorism. This designation by the U.S. government determines whether coverage can apply for trip cancellation or trip interruption due to an act of terrorism.
Other coverage benefits can still be available for plans purchased on or before July 21st, 2016.
