HTH Worldwide -Hurricane Matthew Travel Insurance Coverage Position Statement
Tropical Storm Matthew formed just east of the Caribbean on the morning of September 28, 2016. Several forecast models suggest this storm will intensify and make a sharp turn to the north, putting the Gulf of Mexico and the East Coast at risk, along with Cuba, Jamaica, and Hispaniola. If these models are correct, the Storm will cross into the Caribbean where it will find an environment with low vertical wind shear, higher humidity and very warm water temperatures — all of which are ingredients needed for the winds to strengthen. According to the National Hurricane Center this storm could reach hurricane levels (winds of 74 mph) in the central Caribbean by Friday, September 30, 2016.
