What you need to know about your APRIL policy:
APRIL policies purchased on or prior to November 13, 2015, at approximately 3:00 p.m. ET, may cover Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris provided that the covered insured and trip meet the policy provisions. 

APRIL policies that include “terrorist attack” for Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption may cover the event. The coverage under these benefits typically reads:

  • If within 7 days of Your departure, a politically motivated Terrorist Attack occurs within 50 miles of a City listed on Your itinerary. The Terrorist Attack must occur on or after the Effective Date of Your Trip Cancellation Coverage.

Please note:

  • Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption benefits are not payable under any APRIL policies purchased after 3PM ET on November 13 since the event is no longer unforeseen. This guideline applies only to new policies that are effective on or after the event, and covering travel during such time. It does not apply to new policies that cover travel after the event has passed.

Please be advised that the tragic events in Paris, France, Friday night fall within our guidelines, policy terms & conditions as a terrorist attack. Policies purchased prior to 13 Nov, approximately 3:00 p.m. ET, may cover the event. As of then, this event is no longer considered unforeseen, so it is not covered.

Policies that include terrorist attack for trip cancellation or trip interruption may cover the event provided the covered insured & trip meet the policy provisions. The coverage typically reads:

CSA

According to CNN reports, three teams of terrorists staged coordinated attacks at six locations throughout Paris late Friday (November 13th, 2015), including a concert hall, the Stade de France and at least two restaurants.  At least 352 people were wounded in the attacks, 129 have lost their lives.  ISIS claimed responsibility for the terror attacks.

CSA Travel Protection and Generali US Branch consider these attacks to be Terrorist Acts as defined by our policy language.  Certain CSA Travel Protection plans offer coverage for some effects of a Terrorist Act, provided the requirements of the plan are met.  Customers are strongly encouraged to read their Description of Coverage or Insurance Policy for details regarding their available coverage.  For plans purchased on or after 6:20PM EST/3:20PM PST on Friday, November 13th, 2015, please note that there is no coverage for this specific act; at that time, the attacks were no longer an “unforeseeable event” as required by the policy in order to provide coverage.  Please contact CSA Travel Protection with questions.

On Friday, November 13th, 2015, multiple coordinated terrorist attacks occurred in Paris, France, claiming the lives of over 120 people and resulting in over 350 injured.  The U.S. Department of State identified these as terrorist attacks, and as such, these tragic events meet the guidelines and requirements for coverage under certain MH Ross travel protection plans.

Plans purchased on or before November 12th, 2015, may have coverage for these attacks.

Any travelers currently in France and in need of assistance should please contact their plan’s 24 hour emergency assistance hotline.  Representatives are available at all times to assist arranging emergency medical transportation and treatment.  Clients’ safety and well-being is our priority.

MH Ross understands other travel plans may be impacted by these events.  Travelers currently on their trip may incur unexpected costs from delays or missed flights.  Many plans offer trip delay coverage after a 6 hour delay and missed connection coverage after a 3 hour delay.  Trip interruption coverage may also apply if portions of the trip cannot be completed because of the attacks, or if it is necessary to return home early.  Please contact MH Ross with questions, and please always review the plan documents for details.

For those with upcoming travel plans to Paris, France, trip cancellation coverage due to a terrorist attack may be available.  Some plans require the trip departure to be within 30 days of the attack in order for coverage to apply.  To confirm whether coverage is available for your scheduled trip, please consult your plan documents or call us with your questions.  Agents are available 24/7 and eager to assist you.

Tin Leg

On Friday, November 13th, the shootings, bombings and events in Paris killed 128 people and wounded many more.

The U.S. Department of State declared these shootings and events in Paris an act of Terrorism.

What you need to know about your policy:
As of November 13th, the Paris Terrorist Attacks are no longer considered an unforeseen event. Coverage related to the Paris Terrorist Attacks is not available for Tin Leg policies purchased after this date. Tin Leg policies purchased prior to November 12th, 2015 offer Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage for terrorism.

In order for an event to be covered under Tin Leg policies, the event must occur after the policy has been purchased and meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • The terrorist incident must occur within 7 days of your departure and within 50 miles of a city listed on your itinerary
  • Result in the complete cessation of travel services at the point of departure or destination for the following specified amounts of time:
    • Tin Leg Economy policy: 48 consecutive hours
    • Tin Leg Standard policy: 24 consecutive hours
    • Tin Leg Luxury policy: 12 consecutive hours

Coverage for Travel Delay
In order for terrorism to be covered under the Trip Delay benefit within Tin Leg policies, it must meet the following requirements:

    • Tin Leg Economy policy: 12 consecutive hours
    • Tin Leg Standard policy: 12 consecutive hours
    • Tin Leg Luxury policy: 6 consecutive hours

In addition to Trip Cancellation and Travel Delay coverage, other benefits, including Emergency Medical and Medical Evacuation, may also be available for coverage related to this event.

On Friday, November 13, 2015 the shootings and bombings which occurred in Paris, France have been declared an act of terrorism by the U.S. State Department.

Travelex protection plans purchased prior to November 13, 2015 may be eligible for Terrorist Act coverage. Please refer to your applicable Description of Coverage for complete details regarding Terrorist Act benefits, as various Travelex plans may not offer Terrorism coverage. Travelex protection plans are still available to cover trips to Paris, France, but policies purchased on or after November 13, 2015 are not eligible for terrorism coverage related to this event.
