What is an annual travel insurance policy?

Last Updated:

Short Answer

Annual policies are designed for travelers who have multiple trips throughout a year and do not wish to purchase a single policy for each trip.

More Detail

Annual policies are designed to provide coverage for travelers taking multiple short trips throughout a year.

Annual policies typically have maximum limits on the amount of days per trip, and may have limits on the amount of trips taken per year. The maximum limit for one trip is typically 90 days, meaning if you are taking trips over 90 days, you may not be able to find coverage with an annual policy. In this case, we recommend purchasing Single Trip policies.

The coverage offered on an Annual policy differs from typical Single Trip policies. The majority of these plans are designed to provide Emergency Medical and Medical Evacuation coverage. Additional benefits like Trip Interruption and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage can be included on these policies as well.

Some annual policies focus on providing one benefit only, like Medical Evacuation memberships, and Flight Only Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage.

Most of the policies do not include Trip Cancellation coverage. If the policy includes cancellation coverage, customers must select from predetermined available coverage amounts. If Trip Cancellation is your primary concern, we typically recommend a Single Trip policy.
