Frequently Asked Questions

What is Sports & Activities Coverage?

Last Updated:

The Sports & Activities benefit can cover travelers who are participating in sports or adventurous activities, including those that may otherwise be excluded by travel insurance.

Many travel insurance policies exclude coverage for popular activities, such as scuba diving, mountaineering, zip lining, and contact sports, among others. A policy with Sports & Activities coverage can cover travelers while participating in select activities during their trip.

Squaremouth’s Adventure & Sports Travel Insurance activity selection matrix allows travelers to denote which specific activities they plan to participate in during their trip, and only search for the policies that can provide coverage for those activities.

By choosing a policy with Sports & Activities coverage for the specific activities you select, you can be covered for an injury that occurs while participating. This includes coverage under the Emergency Medical, Medical Evacuation, and Trip Interruption benefits.

It’s important for travelers to note that policies with Sports & Activities coverage may still have a list of activities that are excluded. If your policy excludes an activity and you have a claim related to an injury that occurs during that activity, there will not be any coverage available.
