How Do I Get Medical Evacuation Coverage?

Most travel insurance providers and some credit cards offer medical evacuation coverage. You can also buy standalone coverage through a company like Medjet, which covers more than a traditional travel insurance plan.

The travel insurance site Squaremouth recommends at least $100,000 in medical evacuation coverage for overseas trips like Dury’s.

“For cruisers or travelers heading to more remote destinations where it may be more difficult or expensive to reach an adequate medical facility, the recommended amount of medical evacuation coverage rises to $250,000,” says Kasara Barto, a spokesperson for Squaremouth.
