When will we travel again? According to Squaremouth, a travel insurance marketplace, things will pick up in 2021.
International destinations account for 86% of all planned trips in January and February 2021, according to the company. Mexico is the most popular international destination, replacing the US as the top destination for the first time since COVID-19 began. Caribbean countries, including the Bahamas, US Virgin Islands, Aruba, and Jamaica, make up the remaining top 5 destinations.
But COVID-19, with its quarantines and travel restrictions, continue to weigh on American travel plans. As Squaremouth puts it, “Most international trips are booked to destinations that are already accessible to Americans.”
