For people without travel insurance, it’s too late. Standard travel insurance policies can be purchased up until the day before a traveler leaves for a trip. But, a policy must be taken out before a storm is named for it to cover any losses as a result of that storm, said Steven Benna, a marketing specialist with travel insurance comparison site Squaremouth.
