St. Petersburg Pier Demolition – October 2015
Over the course of the month of October, the remaining outlying balconies of the Inverted Pyramid Pier were demolished, reducing the structure to a cube. Large cranes tore down the elevator shafts and clawed out the guts of the building. Despite a number of especially windy and rainy days, demolition crews continued work to keep the project on schedule. By the end of the month, only the structure’s four main pillars remained. The demolition of the old pier is just the first step in the three-year development of the St. Petersburg Pier into the new St. Pete Pier.
