Individual Excellence in Customer Service
“I am now surrounded by new people every day. They never make me feel uncomfortable or unhappy because I am bald. With open hearts and big smiles they allow me that one hour or so of their time to fill their bellies and make them happy.”
I was born twenty one years ago right here in downtown St. Petersburg. I love this city so much, it is such a great place to grow up and I have so many fantastic memories. Working in the service industry has given me so many of those memories. Every day is different with different people and different stories, everyone is always interested in my story I guess because it seems to be obviously written on my head. Things don’t go as you may have planned but, I was always taught with each challenge life hands you there is an opportunity to make the best of it and become stronger because of it.
At 11 years old my hair started to fall out. I was diagnosed with Alopecia, an immune system disorder, and soon was completely bald. I spent so many years and tears on trying to cover it up and just be “normal”. I eventually gave up on wigs and just braced myself for what I thought would be the end of the world but to my surprise, was just the beginning. Years later, my hair grew back when I got pregnant with my son Tristan, I was the happiest woman alive. A couple months later, I started to work at BellaBrava which meant being away from my son more, but being the one and only provider for my little family, I willingly started a new job and quickly fell in love with the BellaBrava family. I was grateful to be here and have them by my side when my hair fell out again. I am now surrounded by new people every day. They never make me feel uncomfortable or unhappy because I am bald. With open hearts and big smiles they allow me that one hour or so of their time to fill their bellies and make them happy.
Which leads me to why I’m writing my story. On December 23rd my amazing manager Carolyn came up to me and asked me if I could come in early the next day because a party requested me, I gladly said of course and worked the rest of my shift. The next day, I came in earlier because I wanted to make sure I was there to help if needed like I do every day, but this day was different. I noticed as soon as I walked in, it seemed like everyone was there, including a camera crew. I didn’t really think much of it so I walked in and got ready and Carolyn told me that part of the party was already seated so I greeted the two ladies and offered them some of our delectable red sangria and told them I would give them a minute for the rest of their party to get here and I walked away. A couple minutes later, I was called over and was told “We actually are not here to eat we are here for you.” I was confused and didn’t know what to say, I was then handed the black envelope and before I could open it, was told it was a thousand dollars. Tears began to fill my eyes I was so shocked and filled with emotion I couldn’t hold them back. Pure happiness was all I felt.
I’m sure Squaremouth couldn’t possibly know how much this thousand dollars would help me. I was able to give my son an amazing Christmas. Thank you so much Squaremouth and of course BellaBrava for providing me the happiness of working at the best restaurant in downtown St. Petersburg.
