Can I be Evacuated to the Hospital of My Choice?

Last Updated:

Most travel insurance plans offer coverage for medical evacuation and repatriation.  This benefit can cover the cost of emergency medical transportation such as an ambulance ride or an airlift.

In most cases, the injured traveler will be taken to the nearest adequate facility.  They will only be moved to another location or taken home at by the advice of the physician and the travel insurance emergency assistance provider.

Some plans include or offer an upgrade for hospital of choice with medical evacuation.  This allows a traveler who has been hospitalized their choice of where to be transported to receive treatment.

Always refer to the certificate of insurance for details.
