CSA Position Statement Hurricane Julio

Tropical Storm Julio strengthened into a hurricane early Wednesday, August 6th, in the Pacific Ocean. Following about 900 miles behind Hurricane Iselle, Julio strengthened into a Category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale late Thursday with maximum sustained winds of 115 mph. Little change in strength is expected over the next day or so as it moves to the west-northwest. Julio is expected to reach the longitude of the Hawaiian Islands Sunday, but it remains to be seen where exactly the track of the center will end up.
