Travel Insurance FAQ

Does the exclusion for a pre-existing condition apply to a family member that is not traveling with us?

Last Updated:

This can vary depending on the policy selected.  While all travel insurance plans exclude pre-existing conditions, the definition and length of the “look back’ period are not always the same.  The exclusion can often be waived if certain conditions are met, like insuring the full prepaid trip cost and purchasing within an  advantage period (typically within 14 – 21 days of first deposit or payment).  Additionally, a few plans do not apply the pre-existing condition exclusion to a non-traveling family member.  You may want to look at TravelSafeVacation or Travelex Travel Select or Travel Max.
