Suspected drug cartel members set up roadblocks throughout Monterrey, Nuevo Leon state on August 26th, shortly after a group of armed men entered a juvenile holding facility in the suburb of Escobedo. Roadblocks were reported on the highway to Miguel Aleman, in San Nicolas, and on the Lopez Mateo avenue.

Five police officers removing one of the blockades were reportedly injured when unidentified assailants threw a grenade at their vehicle. Authorities say a police station in the city was damaged in a separate grenade attack the same day.
