The U.S. State Department has issued the following warnings:

1.      Syria (1/12/2012): The U.S. Department of State urges U.S. citizens currently in Syria to depart immediately while commercial transportation is available.  The number of airlines serving Syria has decreased significantly since the summer months, and many of the remaining airlines have reduced their number of flights.

2.      Egypt:  There are currently no travel warnings posted by the U.S. Department of State as of 1:53 pm on 2/06/2012.

Political unrest is not a covered peril under an iTravelInsured plan.

With the U.S. State Department recommending that Americans avoid or consider the risk of traveling to Egypt due to crises like Civil Disorder, Travelex would like to remind you of the importance of purchasing travel insurance.

For travelers who purchased a Travelex protection plan on or before February 1, 2012; coverage is specifically considered in the following areas.

Trip Cancellation Coverage

  • Delayed arrival due to a covered reason such as delay due to civil commotion or riot causing 50% or more of the covered trip to be missed.
  • If the Travel Supplier cancels the trip due to the above conditions, the traveler may be reimbursed for the reissue fee charged by the airline, up to the maximum benefit amount as stated in the Description of Coverage.

If purchased, Cancel for Any Reason can provide a portion of their trip cost back provided they meet the individual requirements of this benefit.

• Delay while en route to or from final destination for at least 5 hours or more due to a covered reason, such as civil commotion or riot.
