Tropical Storm Henriette became a hurricane Tuesday morning. The hurricane is not currently affecting land, but may come close to Hawaii later this weekend. Travel insurance policies purchased after the storm was named on August 3rd will not offer hurricane and weather coverage for Hurricane Henriette.

Hurricane Henriette strengthened Tuesday morning in the Pacific Ocean, still far from land. Henriette’s maximum winds are near 75 mph, and while no land areas are in Henriette’s immediate path, it is possible the storm system could affect the Hawaiian Islands late in the weekend or early next week. Customers are strongly encouraged to read their Description of Coverage or Insurance Policy for details regarding their available coverage. For plans that do offer coverage for adverse weather and natural disasters, please note that there is no coverage for this specific storm under any plans purchased on or after Tuesday, August 6th, 2013.
