Traveling Companions and Travel Insurance

Last Updated:

Travel insurance policies cover more than just the travelers listed on the policy.  Many reasons for cancellation and interruption extend coverage to family members and traveling companions.  A traveling companion can be somebody that has arranged to travel with you, and only requires that the two travelers have a common itinerary showing the same dates and locations.  There can be various cities and dates of departure as well as return, so long as a portion of the trip shares the same itinerary.  Also, the covered reasons involving a traveling companion must occur during the shared portion of the itinerary.  Always refer to the certificate of insurance for specific details.
