Who is Covered on a Travel Insurance Policy?

Published by May 15, 2009

A travel insurance policy does not require that all of the insured members on the trip be related.  Travelers sharing the same itinerary are considered traveling companions.  This expands the amount of cancellation and interruption coverage to include extensions of multiple families, that is, the primary traveler’s family and the families of all traveling companions.  Each carrier has their own definition of a family member and traveling companion, always check the policy’s certificate of insurance for specific details.
