Why does my final trip payment matter for a travel insurance plan?

Some travel insurance plans will provide additional benefits if the insurance is purchased prior to making your final trip payment.  These benefits typically include financial default of a travel supplier and a pre-existing condition exclusion waiver. Some optional benefits may be purchased only if purchased prior to final trip payment as well like “cancel for any reason”.  This allows a traveler to make a deposit on a trip and delay purchase of insurance until the risk of loss is greater.  Insurance carriers that base some benefits on final trip payment are CSA Travel Protection and HTH Worldwide.
