Unfortunately, we had to cancel a planned trip due to a medical emergency. We filed a claim and found the entire process very straightforward. Customer Service was very helpful in clarifying several questions that we had. Overall, very satisfied with the service we received. We have already recommended Allianz to several of our friends.

The claims process was relatively easy. However, there was a physician form to complete that was suited more for medical treatment in the US than outside the US, which will often be the situation. Also, while I had submitted a claim for slightly more than what I received, I would have expected an accounting upon payment with an explanation of the difference. Because the difference was only about $100, I just let it go. To obtain an explanation of the payment, I would have had to either email or call, which seemed unnecessary.
I had to call both Squaremouth and Allianz with some questions before deciding on what policy to purchase. Both parties were very helpful and pleasant to talk to. They made the whole process very easy.
During my trip, my tooth/filling broke very unexpectedly. Fortunately, when I checked my travel insurance policy, this was covered so I was able to get reimbursed for this cost within a few months. Of course there was a lot of paperwork involved and I understand that. But I found it very tiresome to find a local Notary Public in India to stamp my letter stating that I did not have any other insurance. This one step was very challenging to find in a different country. I would take this requirement out of the claims if possible. Otherwise, having travel insurance did pay off this time as I did end up having a medical emergency.

I can understand how finding a notary in a foreign country would be difficult and will share this feedback with our Claims department to see if we can make changes to our requirements. My Father-in Law past away 2 days before our trip. I filled out the claim on-line. After submitting the paperwork I received a check in the mail for the full amount two weeks later. I couldn't be happier on the process. Make sure if you are from the U.S. to use the U.S. Website. I submitted the claim on the Canadian website first before I found out it was the wrong one.
I can not say enough about how well my claim was handled. I had to cancel a trip to to a medical disability. I filed the claim with all proper documentation and I was fully reimbursed for all my covered expenses. Payment was made within several weeks after claim submitted. I have 30 years of insurance claims experience and so I fully appreciate the professionalism of this company.
