We spent hours on the phone in England working on recovering the bag and we were directed by the insurance company to "buy whatever we needed" We did not buy anything until after 5 days of arriving in England because we finally gave up on getting the bag returned. We spent $500 on clothing shoes and personal effects for my wife because we were attending a wedding and she only had the clothes she arrived in with her. There is a loophole in the fine print that says they only allow expenditures of $100 per day. Because we waited to buy things until the fifth day and we got the bag on the seventh day they only awarded us $100. I spent countless hours on emails with this company and they led me to believe that they would cover the whole expense. They used the fine print to get out of it and legally they are correct.

It definitely took a lot of the fear and worry out of my travels. I had never bought travel insurance before. I always traveled with “luck”. Now I’m a little older and a lot wiser and there’s a global pandemic happening so I definitely needed coverage just in case. I have more trips coming up and I plan on buying insurance again through Cat70.

After numerous attempts, we were finally able to get a Claims file started, as well as receive a Claim number and Claim form. They do not offer the 24 hour assistance that is stated in our policy. When you call that number, it tells you to call back during business hours Monday-Friday.

As I could foresee the issues, I contacted Cat 70 to see if I could be proactive and avoid travel issues. With the hope that I would be able to delay my trip by a day. The policy does not allow for that, even when a tropical storm is hitting your destination. As a result, my travel day was extended by 7 hours due to flight cancellations and delays. Maybe this is the same for all travel insurance, but it is really unfortunate that a customer has to suffer even though the issues were completely foreseeable.
