My claim from an emergency hospital visit while in Poland was handled and paid out within ten days. I would absolutely use CSA again.

They are not reasonable and rude. I had to leave my vacation early because the man I spent 30 years of my life with was diagnosed with leukemia on 8/18 and fly home to be with him and also to take care of my 3 cats (he was hospitalized and moved to a hospital over 30 miles away from home). bill died on 8/24 as a result of the leukemia. They said I was out of luck because we do not have a domestic partnership agreement. HELLO! Living together for over 20 years does not count? Sharing pets, a home, a life???? These people are the pits. I have used CSA every time I went to Bimini since 2006 - I have given them WAY more in premiums over that time than I was asking for - I only asked for reimbursement of the 1.5 days I missed and the flight off the island that could not be canceled and that I had paid for.
BTW - ALLIANZ - with whom I had insurance for my JetBlue flight DID pay the full cost of the $50 to change my JetBlue ticket on 8/19 AND the full cost of the new flight I had to book with a different airline to get off the island on 8/19!! Same paperwork, same illness.
I have also filed an appeal with the NJ Board of Insurance against CSA. I would never use them again, nor would I recommend them. They just plain SUCK!

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding your claim and apologize for not meeting your expectations. We take reviewing and responding to claims very seriously and want customers to understand the coverage details of our plans. We cannot stress enough that it is important to review these coverage details via the sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase, and contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at csa@csatravelprotection.com with any additional questions. In order to receive reimbursement under our Trip Interruption coverage, the unforeseen illness must be of yourself, a traveling companion, or a family member. As you mention, a domestic partnership falls under our definition of family member. Unfortunately, the state of New Jersey was unable to consider you a domestic partner according to law. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at the number or email provided above.

We are glad that we called and spoke to a representative before we filled out the claim. He advised us regarding the paper work that we would need to submit with the claim. This saved us some time and we got a check back quickly. We would definitely use
    CSA again.

I would like to reserve comment until after I file claim. As I understand it, everything must first be submitted to my primary health insurer. I did sign myself out of hospital earlier than physician recommended and got various answers from CSA about how that decision would affect my coverage. I did consult with physicians in the US regarding standard practice as part of my process in arriving at a decision to leave, and was told that presenting similar status in the US, I would have been discharged at the time that I decided to leave AMA. I did leave AMA to rejoin my travel group and keep to my original booked return with my travel companions.
