My claim was slightly unusual but the reps walked me through filing & a few weeks later I received a check.
Read the insurance information carefully. I bought roomright because I thought the price was reasonable and compared well with other insurances. I should have gone with my American Express. Apparently, I did not purchase the "cancel trip for any reason" and so I had only a few reasons to cancel my treip. Unfortunately, I came across a visa issue, and that was not a valid reason. Will not be doing business with roam right, which gave me a false illusion of being covered. The only reason I am giving 2 stars is that the customer service rep was relatively nice.
We understand that visa issues can quickly disrupt a trip. Regardless of your insurance company, it’s always a good idea to read the policy prior to purchasing. You can always call Squaremouth or the provider to help you fully understand your coverage. This incident would have been fully covered under the “Cancel For Any Reason” upgrade, but visa issues are not covered under most travel insurance provider’s standard policies.
I had to cancel due to illness and part of my claim was denied (advance payments for museums). This makes no sense as these advance payments are a valid part of what must be paid in advance to travel and are often non-refundable.
Our travel insurance policies cover non-refundable cancellation charges imposed by the Travel Supplier. Because your tickets were purchased directly from the museum and not through a travel agency or as part of a tour package, they are not covered by travel insurance. We provided a police report and a receipt for a stolen camera. After not hearing from them for 3 or 4 weeks we got an email wanting proof that we were in Barcelona. I sent them a copy of a train ticket, hotel receipt and a copy of the departure day for our cruise. We have not heard from them.

Due to political unrest in the country I planned to travel to, I ended up having to cancel the trip before I left, and I filed for "cancel for any reason" coverage.

I was very pleased. They reimbursed me and were very easy to deal with. We did some over email. That was nice. I was impressed.
I purchased travel insurance for safety and security. Rest assured the minute I ran into trouble the company informed me i was on my own. I was stranded in NYC forced into an expensive flight itinerary change which the company refused to cover nor could they offer any information or guidance. This was the kind of emergency that I had purchased insurance for. You can't predict every problem that can arise during vacation and unless it is outlined word for word this company will weasel its way out of paying.
Received excellent reimbursement for both a medical claim and a missed connection claim. Would buy again.
Claim not solved yet but we are going forward to get things settled. I mainly brought this for the medical but didn't expect to use it for items stolen including passport. There were some items not covered which I guess is really under the small print like prescription glasses.
Our trip was cancelled due to unexpected maintenance by the cruise line, and the insurer refunded all our insurance cost because we were within the cancellation time frame.
