Contacted Tin Leg immediately after recovering internet access on a simple claim for a $375 item. The first person who answered my call was brusque and officious, not helpful, instructed me to file a claim on TinLeg website, which I did immediately. No one followed up. I called again and was twice told someone would contact me quickly and follow up, it never happened until I called a third or fourth time. This took weeks. Eventually I was contacted by adjuster Taniyah Green who did help resolve it. This all took more than a month and I had to restart the process three times, as well as re-submit several documents before Taniyah stepped in and actually got things done. It paid only about a quarter of the actual loss but that was in the policy fine print and I bought the policy based on good reviews online - so caveat emptor. All in all it falls far short of what I expect from a good insurance company with a modest claim like this. The company was trying to outsmart me vs paying off a small claim to an honest policyholder who paid far more than this for what I thought was a premium policy. Slow and disappointing, not why people choose an insurance company. I will not buy another policy from TinLeg nor recommend it to anyone unless someone rectifies this bad experience. Please take this as an honest response from someone who has several successful business startups in his resume. I am not a chronic complainer and cut honest businesses slack for mistakes. Maybe you should make some needed changes vs laughing this off as a sorehead in the office.
    Cheers,
    Barclay Crane

I wanted to cancel my trip since I was let go from my employer two weeks before our departure date. I contacted customer service to verify we could cancel, but was told the fine print said I had to have worked for that specific employer for at least 3 years. I have worked continuously for 25 years in tech, but had just switched jobs after 7.5 years at my previous company. This requirement is ridiculous and prevented me from using the insurance to cancel my trip. I would not purchase this insurance again.

    Hi Sarah

I apologize for the frustration you have experienced.

The Employment Layoff benefit of travel insurance can cover travelers who cancel their trip due to an involuntary layoff or termination of employment. However, in order for this benefit to apply, you must be employed continuously for 1 to 3 years. This is a common requirement within all policies that offer this benefit, although the required length of time varies by policy. Within the policy you purchased, the requirement is 3 years.

I apologize that your claim did not have a more favorable outcome.

I got Covid before travel and so couldn't take the trip. However, it was not obvious to me that I needed to get an "official" test result from a hospital/physician to get reimbursed for a claim and a home test result wouldn't suffice. As a result my claim was denied.

The initial emails I recieved after my claim came quickly. I provided all of the requested information. The last file I emailed was on March 5, a week ago. I have not heard anything since then. I have just re-send my last zipfile to Tin Leg's claims email address.

    Thank you for asking.

The requests were easy to follow and easy to submit. I've never submitted a travel insurance claim before but I had a very positive experience. I was very thorough with providing the requested information and did so in a timely manner. Tin Leg was great. I would hear from them each week acknowledging that they were working on my claim and then asking for specific information. The whole process only took about 3 weeks for me to hear that it was approved. I also received an email from Squaremouth that it was approved as well and when I would receive the money. Everything happpened just they stated. Excellent service.
