Unless you are a frequent traveler, purchasing this sort of insurance can be a real chore....trying to understand what and how the coverage works and pertains to your specific travel, including limitations, can be daunting. While you may assume it means one thing, you really need to take a hard look or still better, talk to a live Squaremouth rep. Note, however, some reps are better than others. One I spoke to was simply answering my questions, but being a novice and not knowing questions to ask or how features may pertain to me, I was not getting far. I wanted examples. However, in my next phone call, the person was excellent and presented scenarios, which helped tremendously. She was possibly older, more experienced and could see what I was struggling with and hit right on with sensible responses. I would have given my experience with Squaremouth reps a 4.5 if it was available.. The website, ONCE ONE UNDERSTANDS HOW TO USE IT, including the terminologies in conjunction with one's specific travel is ultimately very good, and I would use it again.

Buying a policy is very easy. It is done in a minute and money out of your credit card cleared immediately.

Filing a claim and getting paid is very time consuming. Sent paperworks on June 12, 2015 and so far responded that they received the claim. Gave me website address to check the progress but unfortunately for last few days no progress being made. All it says claim has been received.

I guess just have to wait if and whenTravelinsured decide to pay me.

    Very frustrated

I bought my travel insurance mainly for a rental car coverage. On my trip to Costa Rica for two weeks I experienced the following: flat tire in rental car, it ws repaired and payed for with cash as the person fixing it did not speak english, only spanish. no way to get a receipt and even if I did it would be in spanish which I do not speak or write. I also had my wallet and passport stolen from a restaurant. I luckily managed get back the belongings minus $45 that was in my wallet a couple hours later. Police report for that is unobtainable much les sin english. I had a surfboard get $225 damage while strapped to the roof racks of my rental car. again no police report much less in english. I also had the Costa Rican crooked cops take $30 from me for "not having my seatbelt on right?". Fat chance of them giving me a police report in english about that. I called after I got back to the travel insurance hotline to see if any of that was covered by the travel insurance and was told no. So I guess unless the rental car is stolen, burned up or otherwise destroyed and there is a police report in english I will not get reimbursed? Is this correct? I'm not sure then that the insurance is of any value to me in foreign country where I can't get a english police report or an english receipt? Is this correct? You ave asked so I have answered. Thanks, Jeff

My wife experienced a weird and probably rare accident, she broke two teeth. On our return, we filed a claim for the temporary care she required. In the view of the attending dentist, he couldn't do nothing. On the other hand, she wasn't going to be staying long enough to treat her properly. So, the bill came to about five hundred dollars. I was unaware there was coverage, but the TII representative found the provision in the policy. TII was at all times courteous, helpful and thoroughly professional. The basis for disallowing the claim was technical. Although the teeth were "natural," they had been capped which made them not natural. Would I ensure with TII again? Sure(but I disagree with their decision).

I called before departure to inquire about emergency evacuation details. I wanted to know where exactly I'd be evacuated to, in the event that were necessary. The agent simply said "to the most appropriate facility". I wanted to know if that meant close to my home - or on the other side of the country - but they didn't know. That was less than comforting.
Other than that - good experience.

I was operating in Nepal under very difficult conditions with minimal telephone service. When I requested that my policy be extended for 1 more week due to being needed on aid work the operator told me she could not help me and told me to call back during normal work hours. I said I could not do that and she simply told me she could not help. Poor service at best. Some people like me operate at places having things like minimal service and 12 hour time differences. Why bother with travel assistance?

Signing up on-line was easy. I was able to call and speak directly with an agent with question I had before completing my sign-up.
