British holidaymakers who are keen on a spot of ballroom dancing would do well to book a flight to Orlando, Florida.

That is because the Orlando World Center Marriott is going to build a 13,000 capacity new ballroom.

The Cyprus Ballroom will be the biggest such example in the US and builders will have more than 400,000 square feet of development space to play with.

It will be connected to the Palms Ballroom and have 160,000 square feet of continuous pillar-free carpeted meeting space.

Tim Swan, spokesman for the hotel, said: “In 2005 we launched one of the most ambitious expansion programs in Marriott history.

“Orlando is one of the top meeting destinations in the country and one of the most competitive.”
