Winter Sports Coverage
What Does Winter Sports Travel Insurance Cover?
Travel insurance for winter sports is primarily designed to provide cancellation and medical coverage. For travelers planning to participate in winter activities during their trip, but are forced to cancel, the Trip Cancellation benefit can refund their prepaid and non-refundable trip costs, including airfare, hotel accommodations, and expenses related to the activity, such as lift tickets or equipment rentals. In the event of an injury during the trip, travel insurance can reimburse the cost of treating the injury and the cost of a medical evacuation, if necessary.
What to look for when buying travel insurance for winter sports and activities:
Travel insurance for winter sports and activities can vary significantly from policy to policy. Activities that can be covered by one policy, may be specifically excluded from the next. For this reason, for travelers who plan to partake in specific winter sports or activities, it’s important to check a policy’s certificate for a list of excluded activities before purchasing. When buying travel insurance for winter sports, Squaremouth recommends at least $50,000 in Emergency Medical coverage, and $100,000 in Medical Evacuation coverage.
