Although the British Virgin Islands no longer require specific travel insurance coverage, Squaremouth recommends travelers visiting the British Virgin Islands buy a policy with at least $50,000 in Emergency Medical coverage and $100,000 in Medical Evacuation and Repatriation coverage.

The Emergency Medical benefit can reimburse a traveler for costs related to an illness or injury that they incur during their trip, typically including treatment costs for travelers who contract Covid-19. The Medical Evacuation benefit can cover the costs of transporting a traveler to the nearest adequate hospital and typically covers repatriation depending on the policy.

For travelers who have non-refundable trip expenses, Squaremouth also recommends Trip Cancellation coverage, which can reimburse travelers for pre-paid and non-refundable trip payments should they need to cancel for a covered event. These events can include unforeseen illness or injury, inclement weather, among other events. Amid high levels of uncertainty, this coverage can refund travelers who contract Covid-19 prior to departure and cannot take their trip as planned.
