Lebanon Travel Insurance Requirements

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, certain countries have made travel insurance mandatory due to an increased risk of unsettled medical bills from tourists. Lebanon is one of those countries.

All travelers visiting Lebanon must have a travel insurance policy with Covid-19 medical coverage in order to gain entry into the country. In order for the traveler to be accepted into the country, they must also prove that their policy will cover them for the entire duration of their trip.

Squaremouth’s Travel Insurance Recommendations

Because they are required in order to gain entry into Lebanon, medical travel insurance benefits are the most important pieces to look for when buying travel insurance. While these benefits are required to gain entry, there is not a set amount that is needed.

Therefore, Squaremouth recommends travelers buy a policy that meets our recommended medical coverage for international travel. A policy that meets these requirements will include at least $50,000 in Emergency Medical coverage, and at least $100,000 in Medical Evacuation coverage.

Emergency Medical and Medical Evacuation are separate benefits. Emergency Medical can reimburse travelers for the cost of treatment during their trip, such as hospital fees and physician services. Medical Evacuation can cover the cost of an evacuation to the nearest hospital in the event of an emergency.

In addition to these required benefits, Squaremouth recommends a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes other benefits for the most common travel insurance concerns. Primarily, this includes Trip Cancellation coverage and Medical Evacuation coverage.

Travelers who are concerned about losing their prepaid trip payments if they have to cancel their trip to Lebanon can cover these costs through a Trip Cancellation policy. Trip Cancellation is designed to reimburse 100% of a traveler’s prepaid and non-refundable trip costs if they need to cancel for a covered reason. The most common covered reason is an illness or injury, and this can typically include not being able to travel because they are sick with Covid-19 or another illness.
