Departure and Return Dates with Travel Insurance

Last Updated:

When obtaining a travel insurance quote, departure date and return date are two required pieces of information.  Most travel insurance policies cover from the front door of the home residence, throughout the trip, back to the home’s front door.  Even if there are multiple stops on a trip, so long as there has been no return to the home residence, then one policy is able to cover it all.  So when calculating the departure date, that is the day the guest is leaving the house, likewise, the return date is when the guest returns back to the house.  Returning home early from the trip early will end the travel insurance policy early, as well.  This is the case with interruption that causes the trip to end sooner than expected, once the guest returns home, all coverage stops at that time.  Always refer to the certificate of insurance for details.
