Updated Seven Corners Statement: Iceland Volcanic Eruption

Travel insurance carriers release position statements when current events affect coverage.  The following is an updated statement from Seven Corners on the volcanic eruption in Iceland.

Seven Corners is accommodating their insureds by whatever means necessary to ensure their safe return home.

Seven Corners is providing benefits for cancellations/interruptions, and/or travel delay due to weather that causes complete cessation of services for 48 consecutive hours.

Trip Cancellation benefits are as follows: 1. Non-refundable Cancellation charges imposed by the Travel Supplier;  2. If the Travel Supplier cancels Your Trip, then You are covered for up to $75 for the reissue fee charged by the airline for the tickets.  You must have covered the entire cost of your Trip including the airfare.

Trip Interruption benefits are as follows: 1. Unused, non-refundable land or sea expenses prepaid to the Travel Suppliers; 2. The airfare paid less the value of applied credit from an unused travel ticket to return home, join or rejoin the original Land/Sea Arrangements limited to the cost of one-way economy airfare or similar quality as the originally issued ticket by scheduled carrier.

Travel Delay benefits are as follows: The Company will reimburse You for Covered Expenses on a one-time basis, up to the maximum amount shown in the Confirmation of Coverage, if You are delayed en route to or from the Trip for twelve (12) or more hours due to a defined Hazard:

Covered Expenses include:

1. Any prepaid, unused, non-refundable land and water accommodations;

2. Any reasonable additional expenses incurred;

3. An Economy Fare from the point where You ended Your Trip to a destination where You can catch up to the Trip; or

4. A one-way Economy Fare to return You to Your originally scheduled return destination.

An individual purchasing a protection plan after this particular event, there is no coverage for that particular reason.  If Eyjafjallajokull erupted again, it will be considered a new occurrence each time the cloud dissipates and then reappears due to another eruption.
