Can I cancel my trip to France because of the attack in Nice?

Last Updated:

You may be covered to cancel your upcoming trip if you had a travel insurance policy with Terrorism coverage in place before July 14 and the Nice attack meets your policy’s definition of a terrorist attack. (See provider position statements.)

Your trip would need to meet your policy’s additional requirements to be eligible for coverage. The requirements for Terrorism coverage vary by policy, but they typically include the following:

  • The attack must be declared terrorism by the State Department
  • The attack must have occurred in a city on your itinerary, or within 50-100 miles of a city on your itinerary
  • The attack must occur within 7-30 days of your scheduled departure date

This information is time sensitive and may vary by policy. If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact us directly at 800-240-0369. Our customer service representatives are available 24/7 and are delighted to help.
