What if I don’t want to travel to Europe because of the Europe Travel Alert?

Last Updated:

If you want to cancel your trip because you are nervous about traveling to a destination with a travel alert, only the Cancel For Any Reason benefit would cover you to cancel for this reason.

A travel alert is not a covered reason to cancel a trip on standard travel insurance. Fear of traveling, due to potential risks associated with a travel alert or for any other reason, is never a covered reason on travel insurance.

If you want to cancel your trip because you are nervous about traveling to a destination with a travel alert, only the Cancel For Any Reason benefit would cover you to cancel for this reason. This allows you to cancel for a reason not otherwise cover within the policy, such as a travel alert, and receive reimbursement of up to 75% of your trip cost.

Cancel For Any Reason requires you to cancel your trip at least 2-3 days before your scheduled departure date. This upgrade is only available within 14-30 days of your first booking or deposit toward your trip, and it requires that you insure 100% of your trip cost. Most policies with the Cancel For Any Reason benefit will reimburse you for 75% of your prepaid and non-refundable trip expenses.
