What if I miss an activity at my destination because my flight was delayed?

Last Updated:

If you miss an activity or excursion due to a flight delay, your policy’s Travel Delay benefit can reimburse unused prepaid and nonrefundable trip costs that were missed during the delay.

In the event a delay causes the traveler to miss out on prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs, they can utilize their insurance policy’s Travel Delay benefit to seek reimbursement. However, in order to be eligible for this benefit, the delay must meet the policy minimums. For most policies found on Squaremouth, the minimum delay required to activate the Travel Delay benefit is 3, 6, or 12 hours. This information can be found on your policy’s certificate.

If a delay causes you to miss a prepaid, nonrefundable activity or excursion, it’s recommended to call your provider’s 24-Hour Emergency Assistance department to receive help and review your specific policy’s coverage.

This information may vary based on the travel insurance policy. If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact us directly at 800-240-0369. Our customer service representatives are available from 8am to 10pm ET, seven days a week, and are delighted to help!
